International Final Qualifying (IFQ)
International Final Qualifying (IFQ) events for The Open Championship were introduced in 2004 and are held on five continents to give more players from around the world the chance to gain direct entry into golf’s oldest championship.
IFQ events for The 2009 Open at Turnberry will be as follows:
IFQ — Africa: 3-4 February 2009, Royal Durban Golf Club, Durban, South Africa
IFQ — Australasia: 10 February 2009, Kingston Heath Golf Club, Melbourne, Australia
IFQ — America: 25 May 2009, Gleneagles Country Club, Plano, Texas, USA
IFQ — Europe: 8 June 2009, Sunningdale Golf Club, Berkshire, England
IFQ — Asia: 31 March — 1 April 2009, Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore
Regional Qualifying (RQ)
Regional Qualifying for the 2009 Open will be played at 16 clubs: Abridge, Berwick-upon-Tweed (Goswick), Coventry, Effingham, Enville, Ferndown, Lindrick, Mere, Musselburgh, Old Fold Manor, Alwoodley, Pleasington, Rochester & Cobham Park, Royal Ashdown Forest, Royal Dublin and The Gog Magog.
Local Final Qualifying (LFQ)
Local Final Qualifying for the 2009 Open will be played at Glasgow Golf
Club — Gailes Links, Kilmarnock (Barassie) and Western Gailes. The starting field for each LFQ will be 96 players, with four qualification places from each venue into The Open at Turnberry.
