International Final Qualifying (IFQ) events for The Open Championship were introduced in 2004 and are held on five continents to give more players from around the world the chance to gain direct entry into golf’s oldest championship.
IFQ for The Open at St Andrews is as follows. Australasia — Kingston Heath Golf Club, Melbourne, Australia, January 14 & 15; Africa — Royal Johannesburg and Kensington, South Africa, January 20 & 21; Asia — Saujana Golf and Country Club, Malaysia, 10 & 11 March; America — Gleneagles Country Club, Texas, USA, May 24 and Europe — Sunningdale, Berkshire, England, June 7.

| (3) Any player with OWGR pointage at date of entry. A place in the starting field will be subject to OWGR ranking on the closing date. | |
| (4) Anyone who played in the 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry. |
D(2) is only applicable if the entrant concerned is still an amateur on 14 January 2010 (IFQ Australasia) or TBC (IFQ Asia)
3 players will qualify directly into The Open Championship.
